Abstract: The webinar explores the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly generative AI, in the context of scientific research. Starting with an overview of the current regulatory frameworks surrounding AI, with a focus on the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act (Regulation EU 2024/1689), the speech then delves into the current and emerging uses of AI in scientific processes, from data analysis and article generation to project management and synthetic data production. A key section addresses the ethical, legal, and practical challenges associated with AI use, including risks of misinformation, bias, data privacy breaches, and the issue of AI hallucinations. The presentation concludes with a discussion of the EU’s guidelines for the responsible use of generative AI in research, emphasizing its core principles
