Abstract: Primary productivity is an important ecosystem service fundamental to support the life on Earth. Plant productivity depending on photosynthetic process responsible for biomass accumulation in an ecosystem and for light energy entering in ecosystems and transferred to the food web. Currently, the growing interest in studies aimed at improving primary productivity is linked to the need to boost crop production to meet the demand for food from the ever-increasing global population. In this talk will be discussed, with a multidisciplinary approach (morphological, physiological, and biochemical), the mechanisms by which the photosynthetic apparatus cope with environmental constraints and the strategies allowing plants to cope with mono and multiple abiotic stresses in different environments
