Abstract: Anthocyanins are popularly known as bioactive beneficial compounds for human health and widely considered important specialized metabolites for the physiology of plant. However, anthocyanins, being visible pigments, represent also a visual reporter of molecular events occurring in plants, and molecular plant biologists exploit these natural pigments to dissect genetic mechanisms. My research activity is address on different aspects to understand and dissect the molecular mechanisms by which the anthocyanins are produced in response to environmental stress. Besides, I am interested in to understand the link of anthocyanin with several physiological processes in plants, the exploitation of anthocyanins for human needs and biotechnological methods needed to improve the production of this important metabolites in plant. Potato, wild relatives and other Solanaceae are main plant of interest in my studies
