Abstract: Understanding the responses of tomato to drought/low nutrient stresses, single or in combination, is a prerequisite to develop resilient varieties. Root and leaf transcriptomic variations, including changes in alternative splicing landscapes, differentiate tolerant from sensitive genotypes and assist in identification of functions, genes and transcripts responsible for changes in the physiology and growth induced by stress. Individual players are then manipulated through new breeding technologies to introduce beneficial traits in genotypes of choice
