Description
|
The aim of the project is the conservation together with genetic and sanitary improvement of grapevine germplasm (Vitis vinifera ssp. vinifera) in Sicily through recovery and ex-situ conservation through the creation of a collection field of the germoplasm of 1) minor vines and / or at risk of extinction and 2) of the autochthonous relicts of wild vine (Vitis vinifera ssp. sylvestris). The actions to be taken include the following activities: 1) Identification and collection of varieties of minor or endangered vines of domestic life and sylvatic populations in the whole regional territory, including the Circumsicilian islands; 2) Genetic characterization of the germplasm to be conserved; 3) Creation of a collection field for specific demonstration and dissemination actions; 4) Preparation and implementation of a website for dissemination and public consultation purposes; 5) Genetic and sanitary improvement of germplasm using the most modern biotechnologies. |
