Description | NEMATIC is a highly multidisciplinarity project integrating biochemistry and molecular biology, biophysics, chemistry and molecular dynamics, with the aim to develop nanopore-based microarray devices for the study of DNA structure, topology and interaction with proteins. Protein-induced DNA structure and topology modifications are crucial in all DNA activities. Self-assembled nano- and mesoporous material will be fabricated and used to set up nanopores to study, through the analysis of the nucleic acid electrically driven nanopore translocation, DNA structural modifications induced by selected thermophilic and mesophilic DNA-acting proteins. Nanopore-based innovative microsystems will enhance laboratory practice by permitting spatial and temporal analytical resolution of DNA structure modifications and DNA-protein interactions down to the single-molecule level.
